It’s that time of the year again, everyone is figuring out where they fit in within their school. It is either every student’s dream or their worst nightmare. The stresses and anxiety of school might appear when you least expect it. At this time for preparation, it is important to be aware of what is to come and how to solve those obstacles.
Entering A New Environment
Whether you are going into high school, starting your first year in college, or even transferring schools, the thought of making new friends crosses your mind. It can be quite worrisome if you are starting fresh at a new place and have little to no connections there. The best practices to set you up for the highest chances for success are:
Joining clubs and organizations. This might be a scary task to do, however it is imperative that you learn and interact with the students and faculty around you. Before you enter your new school, have a look at the different clubs and organizations that are available. Find 1 or 2 that pique your interest and join. This is one of the fastest ways to directly connect you with students that have similar interests as you. This is also a very good way to build your resume at the same time. Jobs and internships look for students that are active in their school community. It shows your work ethic and the ability to work with a team.
Attend events. It will feel a bit awkward going to an event alone, but there will always be a person feeling the exact same way. All it takes is finding that one person and having a conversation with them. When going to events, you are putting yourself out there allowing people to see and have a chance to learn about you. This is also a good way to learn about the school you are attending and the entire student body.
Create or join a study group. There is always one class that is bound to give you a headache. That is where you form a study group with other students that feel the same way. Creating a group chat with a few of your classmates is a great start to meeting other people and aids you in your academics. Doing this maybe easier than anything else since everyone in the room is having the same thought, “why am I taking this class?” and trying to figure out the fastest way to get answers to the homework. Having a group that works together on a task creates a bond that you know will last the entire semester/year and possibly beyond.
Fixing A Broken Sleep Schedule
Staying up all night during the summer was fun and worth it, but now you must get up at 8am every day. What are you going to do? We’ve all been there, and it is a true task to get back to a consistent and effective schedule, but it can be done. Here are two tips that will help:
Turning off all electronics. This can be a tall ask for most simply since our everyday lives are consumed by technology, however this is one of the best practices for better sleep. It allows your mind to shut down properly, eliminating distractions that keep your mind occupied. Taking away the noise of a television and the brightness of your cellphone screen allows your brain to truly shut down the way it needs to, rejuvenating itself for the following day.
Create a schedule. Having a set schedule and breakdown of your day is both good for your overall time management and your personal health. Life can become very fast pace and we lose track of what we are doing in the moment or forget to eat at least once a day. Making sure to have a detailed breakdown of your day allows you to properly make sure that all your health needs are met, which includes rest.
So, what’s tea?
Chamomile tea will help with these stressors of school and everyday life. Chamomile tea has a lot of different benefits. Regarding school, it helps with sleep and relaxation. If you need a sleep aid and don’t necessarily want to use over the counter drugs, you can have a cup of hot chamomile tea. This can also help with any anxieties you might encounter from tests, large projects, or even social anxiety. However, be mindful when you choose to drink this kind of tea since it will make you a bit drowsy. It is recommended that you avoid this when you know you have a busy schedule ahead. Some other benefits are cold symptoms and mild skin conditions. Specifically, in college/university, everyone seems to get sick all around the same time. Make sure you stay ahead of the game by keeping your immune system healthy or even if you do encounter a cold, this is one of the fastest ways to alleviate symptoms. Currently, acne does appear for some. Chamomile is known to help with the treatment of acne, repair sensitive skin, as well as the reduction of skin dehydration. If you find yourself struggling with these core problems It might be worth giving a shot to try products that contain chamomile.
